Maguindanao, Philippines

BRIEF HISTORY: A sultanate created in the 16th century by descendants of the Malaccan Royal Family, located in southern Mindanao. In 1668, the sultanate was divided into 4 sultanates: Maguindanao, Buayan, Kabuntalan and Ganassi. The sultans resisted long Spanish conquest but finally were subdued at the end of the 19th century.
